The New Central Visayas Regional Office

The Cebu Regional Office of Homeless Peoples Federation Philippines Inc. constructed in 1996 to cater services to all community of savers, people’s organization and meeting venues.   It is located inside the San Roque Church compound in Subangdaku, Mandaue City, Cebu.

The building originally was made of light materials like “Amakan” (made of bamboo strips) and tin plate sheets as its walling and ceiling, and corrugated GI sheets for roofing.   In December 2009, “Amakan” and tin sheets was replaced by Interlocking Compressed Earth Block (ICEB) but the roofing materials was still the same.

On January 23, 2011 LTHAI workers came to demolish the ceiling, wall (“amakan” and tin plate sheets) and the roof.  Staffs (Lucresia Duque, Analiza Fernandez, Nanette Bumarlong and Raymund Pepito) transferred to PACSII Office just a walking distance from the Regional Office while Leopoldo Chavez, Loreta Andales and Regina stayed outside right near the destroyed material.

The new building would have 2 storeys and a total area of 71.91 M2 for ground floor and 58.35 M2 on the second floor.  The 1st storey of the building will be the Regional Office for Homeless People’s Federation Philippines (HPFPI) while the 2nd one is for the Philippine Action for Community-led Shelter Initiatives Inc. (PACSII) and Technical Assistance Movement for People and Environment, Inc. (TAMPEI).

May 29, 2011 will be the blessing and cutting of ribbon for the new Central Visayas Regional Office. PACSII Executive Director Rev. Fr. Norberto Carcellar, CM will come for the event and guests from LGU, shelter agencies, academe and private/business sectors. The said event follows right after the federations turn-over the first 12 houses to Malibu-Matimco Village Homeowners Association Inc. at Brgy. Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
